● What is ZingyZingo?

ZingyZingo is a creative cyber performance group dedicated to creating exciting and innovative sound performances with close-at-hand ordinary articles in  familiar daily places instead of formal instruments and well-prepared stages.

 

The group features three characters -- ‘Zingy’, ‘Zingo’, and ‘Bango’ -- of marked individuality. Together, they take the audience through a multi-sensory experience that combines theater, animation, percussive music, and science. The audience is invited to join in to be a part of an entertainment that is like nothing else.

● About ZingyZingo Music

ZingyZingo music is colored with exciting rhythms and innovative melodies, created with ordinary articles around us in familiar daily places. It refuses to be straight-jacketed into formalized genres, such as Jazz, Rock, Classics, etc., but moves happily through them.

 

The rhythm is closely related to the percussive music of prehistoric ages ‘performed’ by hitting things at hand, like logs, bones, leather, etc. And stomping and shouting lead to dancing and singing. Sound-making and moving bodies together make ZingyZingo music. Fortunately, there are plenty of things to make sounds today, and modern technology like ‘Digital Sampler’ enables ZingyZingo to use recorded sounds as another set of instruments.

 

For ZingyZingo, sound of articles like telephone, stapler, cutter-knife, and other ordinary objects are the inspiration for their music making. Their sounds, together with pre-recorded sounds widely available in the daily environment, are brought to life into music by ZingyZingo. Objects found in any given environment, such as an office setting, as in the first performance, set the stage, and provide the instruments for ZingyZingo music.
